Determine the equation of the parabola with vertex at (6,2), its axis parallel to Y-axis and passes through (2,4).

The parabola with vertex (h,k) and parallel to y-axis is (x-h)^{2}=4a(y-k)\,

Given vertex is (6,2)\,

(x-6)^{2}=4a(y-2)\,

This equation passes thro' (2,4)\,

By substituting the value in the above equation

a=2\,

Therefore,the parabola is

(x-6)^{2}=8(y-2)\,
