What is the value of k if (4,k) and (2,3) are conjugate points with respect to the circle x^{2}+y^{2}=17\,

Equation of the circle is

x^{2}+y^{2}=17\,

The polar of (2,3) with respect to the circle is

2x+3y=17\,

Since the points (4,k)(2,3) are conjugate points, then (4,k) lies on the polar.

Hence

8+3k=17,k=3\,

Hence the value of k is 3.
