Find the value of y, if the line joining(3,y),(2,7)\, is parallel to the line joining (-1,4),(0,6)\,</mathSlopeofthelinejoining<math>(3,y),(2,7)\, is

{\frac {7-y}{2-3}}=y-7\,

Slope of the line joining (-1,4),(0,6)\, is

{\frac {6-4}{0+1}}=2\,

Since the two lines are parallel, the condition is that their slopes are equal,

Hence

y-7=2\,

Hence y=9.
