Find the ratio in which the straight line3x-4y-7=0\, divides the line joining the points (2,-7),(-1,3)\,

By applying the formula for the ratio,we get

\frac{-(3\cdot2-4\cdot-7-7)}{(3\cdot-1-4\cdot3-7)}\,

\frac{-(6+28-7)}{(-3-12-7)}\,

\frac{-27}{-22}\,

Hence the ratio is 27:22
