Find the equation of the straight line passing through $(4,-3)\,$ and parallel tothe line joining $(6,3),(-4,5)\,$ .

The slope of the line is

$\frac{5-3}{-4-6}=\frac{1}{5}\,$

Now the slope of the required line is $\frac{1}{5}\,$

The condition for two parallel lines is that their slopes are equal.

Hence the equation of the required line is

$y+3=\frac{1}{5}(x-4)\,$

$5y+15=x-4\,$

$x-5y-19=0\,$
