Find the slope of the tangent line to the graph f(x)=\cos x+x^{5} when x={\frac  {\pi }{2}}

Find the derivative of the function.

f'(x)=-\sin x+5x^{4}\,

Plug in the value to find the slope at that specific point.

f'({\frac  {\pi }{2}})=-1+{\frac  {5}{16}}\pi ^{4}\,

Thus the slope of the tangent line to f(x)=\cos x+x^{5} when x={\frac  {\pi }{2}} is -1+{\frac  {5}{16}}\pi ^{4}
