Show that the points (-1,7),(3,-5),(4,-8) are collinear.

If we find the area of the triangle formed by the given vertices,

\frac{1}{2}|[-1(-5+8)+3(-8-7)+4(7+5)]|\,

\frac{1}{2}|-3-45+48|\,

The result is zero,which is the condition for the points to be collinear,hence the three points are collinear.
