x^{2/3}-x^{1/3}-6=0\,

Substitute w\, for x^{1/3}\,

w^2-w-6=0\,

(w-3)(w+2)=0\,

w=3\, and w=-2\,

So x^{1/3}=3\, and x^{1/3}=-2\,

(x^{1/3})^3=3^3\, and (x^{1/3})^3=-2^3\,

x=27\, and x=-8\,
