Write the discriminant of the quadratic equations x^2+4x+1=0,3x^2+2x-1=0\,

The discriminant of the equation x^2+4x+1=0\, is

D_1=b^2-4ac=(4)^2-4(1)(1)=12\,

The discriminant of the equation 3x^2+2x-1=0\, is

D_2=(2)^2-4(3)(-1)=16\,

Therefore the discriminants of the given equations are 12,16\, respectively.
