Solve for $x\,$ : $3x^2+1=13\,$

Sending the constant 1 to the right hand side of the equation,we get $3x^2=13-1\,$

Now it looks like $3x^2=12\,$

Sending 3 to the right hand side of the equation, $x^2=12/3\,$

$x^2=4\,$

Taking the square root of both sides, $x=\sqrt{4}\,$

$x=+2\,$ or $-2\,$
