\frac{4x^{-3}y^{-5}}{6x^{-4}y^3}\,

When a number x\, is in a fraction and is raised to different powers, subtract the bottom exponent from the top to get the new exponent.

For the x\, term, do the subtraction: (-3) - (-4)=1\,. For the y\, term, do the subtraction: (-5)-3=-8\,.

\frac{4}{6}xy^{-8} = \frac{2x}{3y^8}\,
